Zip line fun and thermal spa

The Prince's Gate Hotel did not skimp on their breakfast. Orange macadamia nut pancakes or eggs benedict plus assorted fruits and baked goods were just some of the items. We were ready for our first Zip line experience. The tour company picked us up at the hotel which was very nice. We had a small grop- the two of us, anoter coupple and one single person. They fitted us with our harness and helmet. It was a short drive to the zip line course. The company has been removing invasive species that are destroying the forest and it is working. Hundreds of possums and rats have been killed and the trees are making a huge come-back.There are Rimu trees that are over 1000 years old. A short hike thru the forest brought us to our first run. I was very nervous, but it was fun and sfter the first run, the rest were great. WE also crossed a long suspension bridge and had a "milo" break (NZ hot chocolate)
The longest run was 200 meters. We went off that one backwards so we could enjoy the view of the huge Rimu tree. It was a great experience.

After returning to hotel, we took a stroll along the lake and stopped at a small cafe for lunch. NZ had black swans, They were beautiful.

Our afternoon was spent at the Polynesian Spa. A large geo-thermal area on the lake. There are five thermal pool, all at different temperatures. One pool is more acidic and another is more alkaline- both claim to have healing properties. It was an adults only area which was quiet and peaceful. WE went from pool to pool and there was a cold pliunge pool as well. It was so relaxing. If you wanted a water break, there were heated lounge chairs. Our skin felt amazing afterwards.

We were very lucky to be in Rotorua on a Thursday because that is the Market night. The street is blocked off and there are tents and trailer set up. It is like an international food market. Live music on each end and some fresh produce stalls. We roamed thru the market trying to decide what to eat.. Fried dumplings with pork and leeks, fresh made pasta with a bolonase sauce, and so many dessert options. We chose a pastry with fresh custard. We returned to Eat street for a drink. it was all so delicious.
