Bungy center, Cromwell and Braemar Station

It was a big travel day today. We stopped at a view point called Devil's Bacjbone to grab a picture and then to Cromwell for lunch. The entire town was moved because of a hydo-power center they built and created a lake for recreation purposes. They moved the entire historic district to higher ground. Cute place by the lakeside. I had a traditonal NZ Bacon Buttie. (Grilled bacon sandwich)

I met a woman that owned a wool/yarn shop. She spun and dyed all her yarn. So fun to talk to her. I bought two different kids of yarn and a hat that was knit by a local woman- a on-of-a-king with kiwis knitted into it. So cute.

After lunch on our was to the place we will spend the next two nights, we stopped at the Bungy Center- Bungy jumping originated here. We watched the crazy people go off the bridge.  ungy jumping was started as a ritual for fertility by naked women. No thanks.

We made a quick stop at a salmon farm and Mel picked put a mysterious package. We then reached a huge lake- Lake Pukaki and drove around to reach Braemar Station. WE stayed in the Shearers Lodge. It is still a working farm with merino sheep, cows, and pigs. It is over 63,000 acres. The station (ranch) has been in the family for generations. There was fog when we arrived so we could not make out Mt. Cook. The lake was a beautiful glacier blue. Chicken and apple crumble tonight. It poured all night.
