Lava Glass, Wai-O-Tapu and Rotorua

Sleeping in was wonderful. Another fantastic breakfast at the hotel an time to begin our drive to Rotorua. We made a few stops. The first was Lava Glass. A husband and wife team make unbelievable glass. It is themed around the different seasons of the year of landscapes such as mountains, lakes, meadows, sunsets, water, etc. but in an abstract way. So beautiful. We bought a small piece that represented a fern ferl which represented new beginnings and new lief. We were able to walk through the sculpture garden.

Next stop was Wai-O-Tapu- a geothermal area. We walked around the entire park looking at bubbling mud pools, colorful hot pools and steam vents. Such bright colors. Very interesting. I could watch the plopping of the mud all day.

Once we arrived in Rotorua, we checked in at our hotel- The Prince's Gate Hotel. We received a free upgrade- a huge 2-story suite. They also had their own thermal pools which was amazing to relax in.
We walked around the Government Gardens and ended up at an area called Eat Street. Several restaurants were there under one roof. We did the happy hour crawl with appitizers and drinks at several places. Finished the evening with a soak in the thermal pools.
