Mt. Cook

After all the rain during the night, the day looked promising. Still some clouds and a bit overcast bt that won't stop us. Off to Aoraki National Park. We could see Mt. Cook as we entered the park. The visitor center had lots of Mauri history displays and mountaineering through the years.

We hiked the Sears Tarns trail. It would take us up 1960 steps to the top with great views of Mt. Cook and the glacier. The sun came out as we headed to the top. Two lake became more visable as we gained elevation. At times the clouds would rise from the valley and we had zero visibility. It made for dramtic views. It was tough at times, but it was worth it. We hung out at the top for awhile, ate our lunch before heading back down. A beer and popsicle was a nice reward.

Mel grilled the salmon we had picked up and dessert was Banoffee Pie (bananas and toffee)
NIce sunset and starts. Tomorrow we return to Christchurch and fly back to Auckland where we begin our independent adventure.
