Biking to Wanaka
Today was our biking day. It was a very short drive to where we picked up our bikes. We received helmets, safety vest and made height adjustment to the bikes. We rode a nice bike trail along the river. Beautiful blues in the water.
We crossed a large suspension bridge and rested a bit. This was the half-way point and some in our group decided they had enough and road to town in Bill.
The second part had a huge uphil section which most of us walked. It was then mostly downhill to Lake Hawea. Mel, Claire and Larry took a dip. The water was cold! A nice ride from the Lake to the town of Wanaka.
We were welcomed into town by the only dinosaur in NZ and the largest High Five.
We hung out at the park, had a picnic lunch. There were more eels in the water.
Saw the famous Wanaka tree. Most photographed tree in NZ.
On our way to Queenstown, we made two stops. First we stopped Bradrona, a fence with thousands of bras. It is now a fundraiser for breast cancer.
And then the 2nd oldest pub in NZ. Had a drink and then onward to Queenstown.
