Fiji- best snorkeling

Image
We fell into a routine while in Fiji. Woke up, went to breakfast. Took a walk along the beach or a class. One afternoon at low tide, we walked the mud flats and found many brittle stars and sea urchins. After exploring, it was time to change into swimwear. Walked about 1/3 mile down the beach and swam to reef area for snorkeling. The water was so warm and the reef had so much live coral and lots of fish. I have never seen so much colorful, live coral before. We would snorkel for a good hour and then swim a bit in the ocean. Jump in the pool to rinse off and then grab our books and sit poolside to read and swim. Many times we were the only people at the pool. I have no idea what the other guest did. There were horses on the beach and some locals would offer rides. Late afternoon, we would shower and get ready for dinner. One evening we did have a spectacular sunset. It was the perfect way to end an active vacation. ...

Our days in Fiji

Every orning we received breakfast. A huge typical buffet with several fresh fruits, pastries, cereal, etc plus you could order off the hot menu. Beautiful ocean views while you ate. It rained several mornings. We would hang out in the large lounge chairs, read and soak up the views.  A couple of morning, they offered free classes. We were the only ones to participate. We took a weaving class and participated in a Kava tasting. Kava is a root that is ground, dried and then mixed with water. It is suppose to help relax you. It made my lips tingle and tasted like dirt. The weaving was lots of fun. We made a mat and a basket. There were so many beautiful flowers everywhere. Some I have never seen.
