Rained out
This morning we had rain. The forcast was for more rain and possible thunderstorms, so a decision had to be made. We suited up in our rain gear and hiked down a very steep trail that was now wet and a bit slippery to another steep upward trail to get us to the dam. It was a tough hike in the rain. At one point I was so hot from sweating and wearing the rain gear that I thought I would never make it, but we did. From the dam we rode a cable car down to a place where we could catch a bus to the next town below. The bus ride was about 45 minutes and everyone was wet. We had some great views along the drive. We removed the wet stuff and changed into anything we had that was dry. Stopped at a great place for lunch, then took another bus up the mountain to where we were staying. Some of our group got out with our guide Sarah and did a hike to a small lake and arrived at the hotel later. We chose to skip that hike, get a hot shower and nap and try to recover from the chill and wet of the day. My cold is a bit under control as long as I have cold medicine. Our hotel was a lovely Swiss looking place with beautiful flowers. It sits on a hill and our views are fantastic. We look on to snow covered mountain peaks and a glacier. The run-off flows below. A great dinner and early bed for tomorrow's hike- our choice of routes is weather dependent, again.
