St. Peter’s Church and Bell Tower, then viewing works from the masters

We started our day with a trek up 306 stairs up the bell tower of St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Very narrow and steep stairs to the top. We finally had a sunny day and the views were outstanding. Once back down, we stopped inside to see the beautifully painted white ceilings and ornate work throughout the church. There was a special mass taking place, so we were only able to view from the back. There was a crypt which eery. Many churches in Europe have them.

Strolled around the farmer’s market area and returned to the Soup Kitchen. Tried some special gingerbread and bought some spices. The town's Maypole is in the market area.

WE stopped by the Frauenkirche and took a quick look inside. Not as fancy as many of the otjer churches we visited. The exteriors doors were carved and beautiful works of art.

Off to Alte Pinakothek- an art museum. They are hosting a special exhibit - “Florence and its Painters: From Giotto to Leonardo DaVinci” Viewd DaVinci's early works and other painter from Italy in the 1500s. WE learned about how paint techniques changed and the mixing of paint went from a tempura type to oil-based. The pigments for blue and bright red were very expensive and in high demand during this time.

We took the bus back and ended up stopping at another Christmas market in the park near the Chinese Pavillion. Love the transportation system in Munich.

We ended our day with an authentic German meal with Laurel.
