Markets, markets and more markets
We met Laurel for tea and she gave us the rundown of all the markets. We had a map, so we marked them and discussed the best way to get to each. We purchased our weekly transport card and we were off. First stop- The farmers market. So much fresh produce, meats, fish, cheese, flowers, seasonal greenery and more. Various food stations to grab a bite. We ate at the Soup Kitchen which claimed to have the world’s best soup. We would agree. Goulash soup for Marty and I had beef broth with German ravioli ( stuffed with spiced pork). Both were delicious and perfect for our chilly, damp day.
Next stop was the market at the Residez. It is the courtyard of an old building. It was not huge but had some fun mechanical scenes set up. Loved the singing moose. We had our first mug of gluhwein- blueberry wine- very good. Crepes with tarts cherries and vanilla pudding- also great.
Stop number 3- the medieval market. Thinks small renaissance fair theme.
Lots of interesting old building and churches to see along the way.
Final stop was to the big Trollwood market at the Oktoberfest grounds. International market, local artist market, live music tent, food tent, art installation tent, plus many shops outside and bars.
We had rain off an on all day, but that never stopped anyone.
We went to the Ratskeller which is in the lower level of the town hall building. Marty had the sausage sampler with kraut and potatoes. I had the roasted pork shank with red cabbage and dumplings. Oh my, wonderful.
Tomorrow we head to see th Neuschwanstein and Linderhof castles.
