Munich train strike and our journey to Paris
Our plan for today was to take a lovely train ride- about 5 1/2 hours, to Paris. When we arrived at the station, we discovered that the train workers were on strike for 4 hours- 5-9 am which means our 8:25am train no longer existed. After being re-routed twice, we finally boarded a train at 11:30am and headed to Paris. We had a brief stop in Stuttgart where we had lunch. We arrived about 4 hours later than planned.
We took the subway to our AirBnB- only a 300 meter walk from the stop. A small, basic apartment in the perfect location. We were 1 1/2 blocks away from the Louvre, 2 blocks from the river and 1 block from the Christmas market. Super easy to hop on a bus or walk to where we wanted to go.
We unpacked and headed to the Christmas market to look around and get something to eat. So many food choices!
We roamed across the park, saw the Louvre pyramid at night and the The Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel. It was built between 1806 and 1808 to commemorate Napoleon's military victories of the previous year.
