Wolfhound Tours- Day 2- Bike riding, hiking and Stone Circles
Wonderful breakfast to start our day. Loaded up and off we go. This morning we rode our bikes about 10-12 miles. Only half of us went. It was cloudy and a bit misty at times, but it was a great ride through forest areas and open farm areas. We road to the "Top of the Coom", which is Ireland's highest pub. Sheep and a horse greeted us along the way. We biked part of the Killgarbin Cycle Route.
Dave picked us up and we drove to the village of Kenmare.
It was market day, so we visited the many booths and bought some baked goods which we ate immediately. We bought our picnic lunch and were off again. We will return to Kenmare for the night. We stopped at a lovely, mossy area next to a stream to eat lunch. So peaceful and beautiful. We spotted a variety of wild mushrooms.
After lunch, those who wanted hiked across the Healy Pass. It took almost 2 hours. Wonderful landscapes. We spotted Glanmore Lake as we hiked. Once we met back up with Dave, I shared my Bulmers cider with the girls.
We took a detour and stopped at the famous McCarthy's Bar in Castletownbere. Had a quick pint and off we go again.
The last stop of the day was the Ardgroom Stone circle. Stone circles are around 3000 years old.
We returned to Kenmare and stayed at Davitts Inn. After dinner we went to Paddy Foley's pub for live music and drink.
