Last day in Prague and final thoughts

On our final day in Prague, we had a slow-paced morning and breakfast. Headed out around 10:30 to do some final exploring. Our first stop was the Convent of St Agnes of Bohemia. Art work from 1200-1550was displayed in the gardens. We walked along the river and crossed a bridge that was the third from the Charles Bridge. We saw steps leading up, but not sure to where, but we climbed them anyway. At the top was a very large park and wall with perfect views of the city. We walked along the upper level taking in the sights. The higher we climbed, the greater the view of the multiple bridges that cross the river. We ended up at the bottom of the castle area. Back across the bridge and into the town square. Did a little shopping and found the ultimate sorbet shop. Wish we had found this sooner.
Thru the square one last time and then back to the hotel. Enjoyed the pool, whirlpool and spa area for a couple hours.
Great dinner at the bistro, then it was time to re-pack and get ready to leave in the morning. I am happy to say that our return trip was uneventful.
We loved this trip. Wish that we had more time in Vienna. So much more to see, so I guess we will have to return someday. I felt like we saw almost all of Budapest. A return trip would allow us to visit museums and galleries. Four nights in Prague was perfect. The three different types of currency was interesting and we were always converting. It was like playing with Monopoly money. In Hungary when we converted $100, we received $26600 Forints, in the Czech Republic, that same amount converted to $2500 Crowns and Euros gave us $80. Our one dinner bill was 180100.00 which converted to $71. It was crazy!!! You are walking around with 1000 bills.
This was our first cruise and organized vacation of any type. When guides were slow, we did our own thing. There is some room for improvements and flexibility, and we were told the Avalon is working on providing more variety and activity options. Beds were extremely comfortable, food was great. wine and beer tastings were fun and the speaker that explained the lock system was interesting. Having only 111 passengers was also a plus. I have heard that the competition ( Viking) has same size ships but crowds in st least 200. That I would not like. Will we go again? Maybe. We will have to see what is offered in the future. It would have been hard to see all the small towns and get all the history from the local guides had we done it by ourselves.
Great trip, great memories and a beautiful area rich in history.
